Design: Inspired by Color | ![]() | "What if I Fall" Inspired by Enui's colour palette. PDF |
Unique Techniques | Discovered a Tutorial for: | How to Make a Ship in a Bottle |
Artist Studies: Durene Jones | ![]() | Pattern This was my first piece that really used backstitch and it’s magical. At first I didn’t think it would really work but then I got past a certain point stitching it and the whole piece transformed |
Stitch Spot | ![]() | I tend to sit at my desk or on my floor next to my desk, sometimes I use my bed which is out of view to the left. The cube shelves next to the desk are where my stitching supplies live. |
Topsy Turvy | ![]() | I usally do / side underneath. So for the this quest I did \ side first. The top cork was a bit tricky cos it was all confetti so I had to keep remembering which way to start with but other then that it was easy enough to switch directions. Etsy pattern |
Stash System | Discovered organization inspiration: | Hoop and Frame Storage I was hopping to find something for travel kit organisation but failed and instead found some ways to stash hoops which is another thing I've been struggling with. |
Revisit a UFO | ![]() | Last added a planet on this in November last year. 2 over 1, 18 ct black jute. Patterns Earth and Mars, Saturn and Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto by me, link will be added once i upload them |
Take Inventory | Took inventory of their stash: | Thread Excel Doc |
Unconventional Canvas | ![]() | Not what I originally planned on doing but when I was lounging round in my pillows I noticed that this pillows ribbon was holey and much easier then making holes in something else |
Scissor Soiree | ![]() | I don’t actually use most of these. I use the ones between the green and white fabric scissors and the blue snips plus the knife for plastic canvas. Everything else kinda just exists around the place |
Prepare to Dye | ![]() | I did two pieces using some old tie dye stuff of my sisters. The purple faded a lot during rinsing and drying while the turquoise stayed much the same |
International Style | Traveled the world and discovered: | Amor em Ponto Cruz, I chose a Brazilian stitcher cos my best friends from Brazil, looking at the Ponto e Cruz tag I saw a lot of smaller border type designs and colours that leaned towards pastels though not quite that light |
Artist Studies: Ink Circles | ![]() | Haven’t gotten very far yet, I’m working on the Lobster Bouquet one as well. Using variegated thread certainly requires a lot more thought to be used on the path taken. I think when I finish this I want to do another where I do sections in different colours to see the different effects that makes. |
Blackwork Research | Researched Blackwork and discovered: | Firefly/Serenity Blackwork There were lots of cool designs out there with large samplers or complex geometric shapes but I quite liked the simplicity of this one. |
Bewitching Blackwork | ![]() | Pattern of my own making using fill patterns form Ensamplario Atlantio: Collection of Filling Patterns for Blackwork Embroidery. I’ve only done backstitching for outlining before and I was surprised at how different doing the patterning felt. Took a bit to get into the grove but I enjoyed it. |
Petite Patterns | Found a small pattern to stitch: | Xmas Skull I made this pattern when playing round with my sister adding Xmas hats to everything last year and I think it’s cute |
Speedy Stitching | ![]() | I stitched up the melee crest from the Pattern I made. Total piece took me 1hr 44 min which gives me a speed of 1.8 stitch/min or 109 stitch/hr. I used the lap timer and found my fastest speed was while stitching the mid red section which I did last so was just filling and was 115.4 stitches/hour and my slowest was the second part of the light red which was only 84.4 stitches/hour |
Specialty Study | Found a tutorial: | Squashed Stitches. I haven't encountered any of these yet in patterns ive done but Sirithe's mentioned them before. |
Specialty Practice | ![]() | I made a Rhonds heart, Rhonds stitch and one (1) coloneal knot before running out of thread. |
Design: Seasons Stitching | ![]() | So I just had some fun and threw santa hats on various things. I stitched the dino a few times here |
Needle Minder Mania | ![]() | My needle minders and a few on top which will probably become needle minders at some point. Before I used magnets I had an XStitch mermaid bookmark which was my first stitch and It held my needles but I couldn’t find it for the photo. The metal dino and googly eye are probably my favourites |
Color Kaleidoscope | ![]() | Late entry for colour kolidiscope. I tend to use a mix of colours in a work but if I’m keeping to a range it’s more likely to be purple or blue 2 over 1, 14 ct plastic canvas Link |
Project Projection | ![]() | I use trello to keep track to my project plans as well. (Totally wasn't converted by siri) I have it in the same board as my pattern hoard so I can easily search and then drag them over into my current WIPs pile Link |
Artist Studies - Dragon Dreams | ![]() | 2 over 1, 14ct Aida. Pattern from FB. I changed the words cos I wasn’t really feeling the original. I really like how they used the backstitch for the trailing string off the heart though I’m not as much a fan of the face. And yes I did put way to much effort into this photo taking (not really it was mostly already like that) |
Stitch Spot - Away From Home | ![]() | Away form home Stitch Spot. Not a spot I’ve used before today but was keeping an eye on some family friends kids while they were at the playground and got some stitching in |
Class Crusade | ![]() | 2 over 1, 18 ct black jute. Made the pattern myself. When finished it will say ‘Fight Me’ in circular Galifraian. |
Something Special | ![]() | 2 over 2, 32ct linen. Using variegated floss and non Aida fabric. I plan to use metallic, glow in the dark, étoile and some beads and buttons for later parts Pattern Link |
Fabulous Fabric | ![]() | I had more then I thought I did, a lot of it is plain 14 ct and small scraps that I picked up at the op shop |
