Color SwapDay Stitcher ColorSwap.jpg2 over 1 on 14ct Aida ; Pattern
    Color TheoryDay Stitcher ColorTheory.jpgDMC 816, 891, 818, 502, 367. For a reds/pinks/sage wedding.
Design: Inspired by ColorDay Stitcher Design InspiredByColor.jpgCocktail using Syzenna's palette.
Artist Studies: Durene JonesDay Stitcher Studies DureneJones.jpgPattern I chose this pattern because I had the idea to change the colors of the house to look like the Orchard House from Little Women. While this pattern from Durene Jones doesn’t necessarily convey the same look and feel as many of her others, which have a very distinct and impressive look of being sketch-like, I still had a lot of opportunity to practice backstitching and ornament creation which I never usually do. Ultimately, what I found most interesting about the pattern was the symmetry of the flowers surrounding the house. I stitched these first, and was convinced at first that what I was creating in red, purple, and yellow just looked like blobs, or at the very least were just meant to add some color to the overall pattern. But once everything was pulled together, I saw how the symmetry of each flower complemented the flower across from it, and it was like magic how it became a gorgeous wreath by the end.
Stitch SpotDay Stitcher StitchSpot.jpgAlthough today I’m stitching in bed because I just feel like it, I’m usually on my living room couch with my cat (in a box) at my feet and a tv show or podcast playing in the background
Topsy TurvyDay Stitcher TopsyTurvy.jpgAny Twin Peaks fans? Kind of made sense to do this “backwards”!

I think like most who have turned this in so far, I usually stitch \ over /. This probably took about double the amount of time it would normally take me, just due to concentration. I had to keep referencing back to other stitches because I was unsure of myself anytime I got into a groove, which I’m sure was similar to how I was when I started learning to cross stitch in the first place.

Revisit a UFODay Stitcher RevisitUFO.jpgI started this project as a gift a few months ago. Even though it’s small and fairly simple, I just couldn’t get myself to finish it in one shot. I think ultimately the color palette wasn’t for me, and that’s okay! I’m glad this challenge gave me the push to get it done! Pattern
Unconventional CanvasDay Stitcher UnconventionalCanvas.jpgI stitched on scrapbook paper. Maybe not super unconventional to some (I’ve definitely seen some cool greeting cards made this way) but it was new to me! Took some trial and error and poking myself in my hand when physically creating the holes, so definitely a learning experience. Pattern from La Selva Design
Artist Studies: Ink CirclesDay Stitcher Studies InkCircles.jpgInk Circles Freebies I don’t think I will have too much more time this month to devote to this project, so I’m going to go ahead and turn this in now. This was a freebie from 2007 and I was really drawn to this color scheme. I had a lot of fun picking out the floss for this since they left it open ended, and I love how neon the colors look next to each other. As far as the pattern goes, I was pretty worried that this would take forever, but it really is interesting how much negative space is used in a knot like this. I am a very slow stitcher (despite being in the agility guild!) and this was only a few hours of work. The thickest “columns” of a single color are only three stitches at most, but to the naked eye looks more complex because of everything going on around it. Fun stuff and looking forward to picking this back up eventually!

Colors used: DMC 160, DMC 333, DMC 347, DMC 742

Petite PatternsFound a small pattern to stitch:Will also be using the Stardew Valley Cross Stitch Book. There’s a Survival Burger with my name on it.
Speedy StitchingDay Stitcher SpeedyStitching.jpg182 stitches in 1 hour and 52 minutes

Comes to about 1.6 stitches per minute

I’m never a very quick stitcher because I am usually watching tv at the same time, and it doesn’t help when I have a lot of color changes. I’ll have to try this out when listening to a podcast or music and see if there’s any difference!

Design: Seasons StitchingDay Stitcher Design Seasons Stitching.jpgChristmas decor optional on this one, but I always like to send a nice reminder every holiday season to support and be kind to your letter carriers in the toughest part of the year! Hoping to actually try these colors IRL soon.
Needle Minder ManiaDay Stitcher Needle Minder Mania.jpgThis is my main rotation. I do have a few more pins that I haven’t yet converted to needle minders. Honestly, I use my agility guild minder the most! Perfect size and strongest magnet.
Color KaleidoscopeDay Stitcher Color Kaleidoscope.jpgI’m not really picky when it comes to colors and I tend to use a lot of different color patterns when I stitch, from drab browns to neon pinks. I came across this pattern from Tiki and Stitch when I was in a nautical mood last week and I realized that I almost never pick up purples or teals, so here we are! I didn’t have the exact purples it called for so it was fun to rearrange those a bit. Pattern
Project ProjectionDay Stitcher Project Projection.jpgThis is exactly how I keep track of my cross stitch projects in the notes app on my phone. I work with so many precise spreadsheets at work that it would give me anxiety to keep my cross stitch plans anything but loose. For the purposes of this turn in, I am just sharing what I reasonably think I can accomplish in 2021, along with a general ranking of the order I’d like to complete (or at least start) each project. My overall list is much longer, and things could certainly be shifted around depending on my mood!
Class CrusadeDay StitcherClass Crusade.jpgI’ve had this pattern on my plate for a while and this seemed like a good opportunity to flex my Bard muscles. I hope it’s not too much of a stretch. Pattern from motoruxin’s Patreon.
