Artist Studies: Ink Circles | ![]() | I chose to stitch the Thread and Eye RYO after seeing someone on flosstube stitching the same thing and loved the design. The great thing about RYO (roll your own) patterns is you can customise the colours, you do have to follow a few basic guidelines, like for this pattern I had to choose 4 colour families and a light, medium and dark from each |
Blackwork Research | Researched Blackwork and discovered: | Doctor Who TARDIS Blackwork I was looking around on etsy for blackwork patterns and stumbled across Peppermint Purples' etsy, they have a lot of wonderful blackwork designs but nothing was really calling out to me. I also looked up some tutorials on youtube to help me get started with blackwork and stumbled onto a video which had a bit of history, apparently blackwork was also known as the "poor mans lace" as it was easier to stitch the design on a different fabric then attach it then to stitch it directly onto the piece of clothing. In the end I stumbled upon an etsy seller who had geeky/nerdy blackwork designs and chose this design. |
Bewitching Blackwork | ![]() | I decided to pick a different blackwork project to the one I started last month. I've always wanted to work on this pattern but never found the time to do it, well this quest certainly warranted it! The pattern is a freebie on the Blackwork Journey webiste. It starts on page 5 but finishes on page 4. I really enjoyed working on this and hoped to have gotten more done. |
Petite Patterns | Found a small pattern to stitch: | I decided to use a box sprite from Sword and Shield. I picked Sobble because it was my starter pokemon in the game. I found the sprite on Spriters Resourcse and the sprite was ripped by Random Talking Bush. |
Specialty Study | Found a tutorial: | I found a Butterfly Sampler pattern that uses a few specialty stitches I haven't done before. It includes the instructions for those stitches, so after a few read throughs I should be able to do them. |
