Artist Studies: Durene JonesSchursch Studies DureneJones.jpgI fell in love with the Tea Rex pattern (it's from a magazine), and my partner wanted it in golden, so I dug out my collection of golden metallics and started swapping colors. I learned how to make the picture pop even with very few colors (which I love in Durene's patterns!), and I noticed quickly that my swapped metallics were looking too much alike when stitched, so much managed to change one of the colors mid-way to tent stitches for variety. Also - the magic of backstitch on color! For me it really gave an effect of using a sharp liner on a highlighter, which I adore. Hoping to put these lessons to good use in a new artwork-to-pattern adaptation I'm trying to do
Stitch SpotSchursch StitchSpot.jpgThis is my "snuggly corner" for crafting and writing and journalling that my dearest lifemate helped me set up last summer. It has natural light from the balcony, also my embroidery lamp, and lots of place to stash my stash
Topsy TurvySchursch TopsyTurvy.jpgA year ago I got used to doing stitches / first, so I tried the reverse for this one. A ruby with colors from what I had in stash from the preview of Stardew Valley Cross Stitch book. It was difficult not to stick the needle through my usual starting spots when I changed threads! But on this small scale it was fun, I might use it in a larger piece to set apart a specific area
Stash SystemDiscovered organization inspiration:Custom wooden storage if I had the funds and time, I would love to get custom made wooden storage like this (she makes them for bobbins, for WIP storage, and for beads tubes/kreiniks)
Take InventoryTook inventory of their stash:Project Airtable It's been quite a challenge, especially given that my stitching stash is split chaotically between my place and my partner's parental home, so I've tried my best to take stock of all the WIPs and kits I have currently, and I think I got ~90% of them covered. I leave 10% unaccounted for those that I failed to photograph at any stage, so I couldn't dig them up from photos) I've been very inspired by Airtable from Sirithre's post and all the tables people have been posting here, so I hope to later expand it to add my fabric stash and which project uses which one...
International StyleTraveled the world and discovered:I went down the French tag for cross-stitch, and found an Italian cross-stitch designer Lilli Violette I love the colourful designs, their style reminds me of how characters look in Studio Ghibli cartoons. Also love the designs using only colours of one type, like, mostly blue in this one.
