Unique TechniquesDiscovered a Tutorial for:How to Stitch on a Notebook
Artist Studies: Durene JonesSiodhna Studies DureneJones.jpgWhat I learnt stitching this, is the backstitch detailing. At first I hated doing the hedgehog's spikes, but after starting to see how it was going to turn out, I finished it happily. Even though the pattern is tiny, it definitely challenged me and I'm so happy I chose this one! P.S! This is going to be a Mother's Day card for my mum - can't wait to give it to her!
Stitch SpotSiodhna StitchSpot.jpgI always sit in the same exact spot when I stitch. I have all my stuff spread around me in an organised mess. I can put something on on the computer or connect the computer to the TV to watch something. I can make use of natural light as long as possible and then I have an over-the-shoulder lamp as well.
Stash SystemDiscovered organization inspiration:Craft Closet I am all for having my stuff neatly stored and filed. I fell in love with this photo because I really do need this kind of space for my stitchy (and other crafty) things. One day, when I have my own home, I will build a nice storage area for myself!
Take InventoryTook inventory of their stash:WIP Trello - I have never tried using Trello, but thought I'd give it a go and made photos and a list of all the WIPs I could find. Will add to it at some point. I want to add patterns there as well, but we'll see. :)
Scissor SoireeSiodhna ScissorSoiree.jpgI don't have a lot, but these are really all I need. And I treasure my DMC scissors (in the middle) the most (they were a gift from hubby and they're the best ones I ever had!).
Prepare to DyeSiodhna Prepare to Dye.jpgI have been so busy this month, but here it is! I dyed some white 16ct Aida with onion peels. I absolutely LOVE how this turned out - I can't wait to make some golden biscornus out of these. The larger piece is dyed regularly, but the darker piece I tried to dye a bit blotchy (it's pretty difficult with natural dyeing). I just left the piece of fabric sitting in the dye pot with some of it outside of the dye for around 5-6h afterwards and well... It did work a little bit, but not much. Need to practise more.
Artist Studies: Ink CirclesSiodhna Studies InkCircles.jpgInk Circles Freebies I found this lovely pattern from one of the 2006 freebies. I wanted to make another bookmark anyway and this quest and this pattern were the perfect fit!
Blackwork ResearchResearched Blackwork and discovered:Blackwork Download Garden I love the fact you could only stitch one of the flowers or the whole lot of them!
Design: Seasons StitchingSiodhna Design Seasons Stitching.jpgI am not very good at designing cross stitch patterns, but I have tried my hand at biscornu patterns as I find them good practise. Here's a Christmas themed biscornu pattern I designed. PDF
