Unique TechniquesDiscovered a Tutorial for:How to Make a Patch
Artist Studies: Durene JonesTega Studies DureneJones.jpgPattern As I did this I was quite interested in the backstitching technique employed. I've never ever backstitched anything that wasn't from one corner to the other, while this piece made a point of starting and ending the middle of a stitch! It never occurred to me that you could stitch anywhere you wanted!
Stitch SpotTega StitchSpot.jpgThis is where I live 80% of the time I’m home. Including most mealtimes haha. I do all of my crafting whether it be knitting, cross stitching, or drawing!
Topsy TurvyTega TopsyTurvy.jpgOML this quest was difficult! Alas it is unfinished but I had the worst time getting the stitches to go the opposite way that it really slowed me down in the beginning. I even missed my count a couple times! I’ve found that if I focus too hard on doing something different I end up doing things worse than if I had just done it mindlessly, at least all my half stitches are facing the right way!
Stash SystemDiscovered organization inspiration:Embroidery Setup While this isn't exactly a system I adore Lena's aesthetic and absolute use of space in how they have spare skeins, cloth and hooks! My favortie part about the shelf is that it can hold on to unused needleminders and embroidery Scissors! Please check out their IG very cute stuff!
Revisit a UFOTega RevisitUFO.jpgThis is my UFO for this month! Still unfinished and will go back into the pile for revisiting later! Since I have so many projects going at once I like to cycle through these so I don’t have pattern fatigue This is a Mermay project, with no mermaid Pattern
Take InventoryTook inventory of their stash:All stitching Equipment So since I’m a maniac and love inventory I figured I’d show you what I have in my inventory! from left to right I have my scrap Aida then boxes of dmc floss then spare skeins, the next set is my wips then my hoops and needles, then my patterns! I’ve got two boxes of floss underneath my current and backup project and after taking actual mind of how many projects I have I’ve got 7 ufos!
Unconventional CanvasTega UnconventionalCanvas.jpgI wasn’t very good at this but I stitched this on the inside of my uniform. My family was worried about me stitching on it but I’m a rebel!
Artist Studies: Ink CirclesTega Studies InkCircles.jpgInk Circles Freebies This was nice to do a very simple pattern. I swapped out the colors for a more teal color and even swapped the darks and lights. I really liked how the ombré effect was achieved with so little effort!
Bewitching BlackworkTega BewitchingBlackwork.jpgFor this quest I found an artist through just crossstitch mag named Elizabeth Almond. Her website is Blackwork Journey and I used this pattern. There’s also some beading that I wasn’t able to complete by the end did the month and I also do not know how to do it, but I had a very fun time with this! I used a variegated red dmc 57 with a light teal for accent, though I’ve misplaced that skein so I can’t recall the number.
Speedy StitchingTega SpeedyStitching.jpgFor this quest I found an old pattern of Leisure Arts from my mother's stash dated 1986! It is the 432nd leaflet called Christmas Caboodle Mini Series #4 by Terrie Lee Steinmeyer. It is 756 stitches and it took me 5 hours and 20 minutes. Therefore my stitching speed is...142 s/h!
Specialty PracticeTega SpecialtyPractice.jpgThis was supposed to be the lakeside specialty pattern but as you May note I counted wrong and didn't realize it til my white ran into the pink. But I’m not mad because I did get to learn about all these fun stitches! My personal favorite out of the ones I did was the Amadeus stitch!
