Artist Studies: Ink Circles | ![]() | Ink Circles Freebies I chose the July 2006 freebie, a nice little blackwork Celtic knot! I’ve never stitched over two before or used fractional stitches. The yellow doesn’t show up super well, but little things like this are a good way to use up fabric and floss scraps! I ended up turning it into a little lavender sachet as an early birthday gift for my mom! |
Blackwork Research | Researched Blackwork and discovered: | Dungeons and Dragons Blackwork Pattern I’m a huge fan of blackwork, I think it looks clean and classy and it’s a cool way to show off hand-dyed fabric! I’ve discovered during my research that depending on the pattern, it’s actually possible to stitch completely double sided blackwork! It would be incredibly difficult, but could be cool for things like bookmarks that then wouldn’t require a fabric backing! I also found this dnd inspired pattern, which happens to be from an artist within my state! |
Bewitching Blackwork | ![]() | This wasn’t my original quest pattern, but a friend’s birthday came up and I figured I’d improvise! The cross stitch pattern is self drafted, and I just went with a blackwork fill for the rest! Over 1 on 28 ct does look a little uneven close-up, but I really like the detail! |
Petite Patterns | Found a small pattern to stitch: | Just going with some simple pixel hearts by Cynthia Fournier, might turn them into needleminders or keychains |
Speedy Stitching | ![]() | Finished my little pixel heart magnets! A total of 52 minutes and 184 stitches, about 3.5 stitches a minute! With backstitching added that goes up to 88 minutes and about 2 stitches a minute. |
Specialty Study | Found a tutorial: | I’d like to learn how to work blanket stitch, mostly to finish hoop backs but I’m sure I’ll find other uses too! Tutorial |
Needle Minder Mania | ![]() | I only got my first “proper” needleminder for Christmas this year, all the rest are homemade |
Color Kaleidoscope | ![]() | A very small pattern, but I figured I could use a more thematic needleminder for my stardew valley map! I usually prefer to work with cool tones, blue and purple mostly so red was a nice change up! Pattern from Siri’s book |
